'I'll keep on wearing...my Hand Me Down Soul...' After more than two decades of performing in and around the New Jersey music scene, singer/songwriter, Rick Barth, decided it was time to write, record, and release his debut album. "Hand Me Down Soul" is the result of that effort... Written over a few years, the songs on "Hand Me Down Soul" are about life, love, looking back and looking forward. The recording of the album was entirely funded by Rick Barth's loyal fan base. A crowd funding campaign was launched and, through social media and word of mouth, his fans heeded the call, exceeding the goal with time and dollars to spare. With plenty of funding, Rick put together a band to record the album he always wanted to make. A lot of the songs started out with a singer/songwriter type of vibe, but, with the help of some good friends (who are fantastic musicians as well), these songs took on a life of their own and became so much more. Musically, the songs on the album range from the singer/songwriter influence of the album's namesake, "Hand Me Down Soul" to heartfelt ballads "Completely" and "Something Better Comes Along". There is the harmonica driven, alt-country, garage rocker "I Love You (Now Go Away)" and the uptempo rock tune ("Another Time With You"). In all, 'Hand Me Down Soul' is a passionate, varied and successful release for an artist that has kickstarted his career with a promising debut. .
