My Left Hand Man is a fabulous record by bassist Richie Goods that pays tribute to the late pianist Mulgrew Miller. Richie was Miller’s “left hand man” for 9 years.The record begins with Eastern Joy Dance, and what a start to a record! The almost 6 minute track has an amazing solo by pianist Mike King along with some great drum work by Lil John Roberts.Every song on this record is a joy. I would be hard pressed to pick a favorite as they are all fantastic whether the tune is slow, sultry, or or swinging.Also contributing to this wonderful record are Shedrick Mitchell on piano, Jean Baylor on vocals, Gregoire Meret on harmonica, Tariqh Akoni and David Rosenthal on guitar, and Chien Chien Lu on vibes.Richie, a master of the low note, shows on his solo track The Left Hand Man, why Mulgrew chose him as his go-to guy.Five big stars!!
